Basic Facts

Language(s) of Instruction: Dutch is the official language of The Netherlands; however, many programmes are delivered in English.

Immigration Matters: A MVV (long-stay visa) and a student resident permit will be required for international students seeking to enroll in a school in the Netherlands for more than 90 days.

Travel to the Netherlands:  One or two flights may be required when travelling to the Netherlands.  

Higher Education Overview

• Bachelor’s degree programmes can be 3 or 4 yrs in length,
• Master’s degree programmes can be 1-5 yrs in length
•  Doctoral programmes can be at least 4 yrs in length

Can I apply to medicine after completing secondary school?
Medicine is not a recommended option.

Do I have to travel to an embassy in another country to apply for my visa?
This process is done in conjunction with the school. A visit to the nearest consulate/embassy may be required.

Can international students work while studying? 
Yes. Students can work on and off campus.

Are there post-graduation work permit opportunities?
Yes - up to one year
